Chris Forehan joined The Youth Center’s Board of Directors earlier this year and we couldn’t be more excited! Chris was elected to the Los Alamitos Board of Education in 2020, representing Trustee Area #2, and brings with him a 38-year career in public education. His career included being a teacher, principal, and Assistant superintendent for PreK-12th grade educational services.

Chris and his family have lived in Trustee Area #2 for over 40 years. Their children attended k-12 in Los Alamitos and currently his grandsons attend Lee Elementary.

Chris was honored for his service to students with PTA’s highest Awards for Honorary Service, the PTA Honorary Life Award, and the PTA Golden Oak Award. He was recognized throughout his career as always placing kids first, involving all stakeholders in decisions, being a good listener and one who takes action. One of Chris’ greatest honors was being selected as “Hero of The Heart” for Lee School this year for his support of the Lee community.

In retirement, he has spent every week volunteering in his grandsons’ classrooms. He also substitutes in our schools to keep his pulse on the classroom. With all his experience, he shares that the “Los Al schools are outstanding”. He wants to “give back” and continue to make a difference for ALL children in our community and The Youth Center is thrilled to have him on our Board.
