A bequest is a gift made through your estate, such as cash, securities, or property, included in your will, trust, or beneficiary designations. It’s a meaningful way to support The Youth Center while maintaining control of your assets during your lifetime. Benefits may include:

It costs nothing today while allowing you to plan a future gift
You keep full use and control of your assets during your lifetime
Your plans can be updated if your circumstances change
Estate gifts may be exempt from federal estate taxes
Notifying The Youth Center allows us to thank you and welcome you into the Legacy Club

Making a Bequest

A bequest can be structured as a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or a portion of what remains after providing for loved ones. You can arrange this through your will or trust, or by naming The Youth Center as a beneficiary of a retirement account or life insurance policy, with the option to outline your gift’s intended use separately.

Planning your gift

When planning your bequest, you can decide how your gift will support The Youth Center based on your goals and priorities:

Unrestricted gifts allow funds to be used where they are needed most, providing flexibility to address future priorities
Restricted gifts direct support to a specific program, fund, or purpose, and may be designated as expendable or endowed
Expendable or endowed funds let you choose between immediate use of your gift or long-term support that provides ongoing impact over time

Unrestricted Expendable Bequest:

I hereby give (Amount) to THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF LOS ALAMITOS YOUTH CENTER INC, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit, to support the objects and purposes of The Youth Center.

Unrestricted Endowed Bequest:

I hereby give (Amount) to THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF LOS ALAMITOS YOUTH CENTER INC, (hereinafter, “the Board”), a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit. The property comprising this gift may, for investment purposes, be merged with any of the investment assets of The Youth Center, but the gift shall be entered in the The Youth Center’s books and records as an endowed fund known as THE (Purpose) FUND (the “Fund”). The Board shall use the endowment payout from the Fund to support the objects and purposes of the The Youth Center.
