Cyber Force is a new Youth Center program designed by Kayla Teng that teaches students in Grades 5-8 about cybersecurity and internet safety. Kayla is passionate about cybersecurity and wants to educate students on how to have fun online while staying smart.

Meet Kayla Teng
Kayla Teng developed Cyber Force as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award to educate youth about the importance of cybersecurity as they integrate digital media into their daily lives. She believes that teaching youth about cyber defense, data protection, online safety, and information assurance will help them become better digital citizens.
Kayla cultivated a passion for cybersecurity after taking college-level cybersecurity courses, participating in CyberPatriot competitions, and becoming involved in her school’s cybersecurity clubs. Most recently, she placed sixth nationally in cybersecurity at the 2026 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) competition. She is currently a high school junior and intends to study STEM in college, with career aspirations in computer science, data science, and artificial intelligence. In her spare time, Kayla enjoys creative hobbies including dance, guitar, drawing and painting, and crocheting.

What malware is, how it gets onto a device, and what to do when something looks wrong.
How information gets scrambled to keep it private, and why encryption sits behind nearly everything students do online.
