OUR PARTNERS
Back in 1952 the Youth Center was founded on the principal of collaboration. While other nonprofit agencies maintained a "going it alone" attitude, the Youth Center realized that more children and families could be served, and higher degree of excellence maintained, if it partnered with other organizations.
This inclusiveness has, over the years, built and nurtured a broad network of partners. We are proud of these partners and acknowledge their importance to our success.
Los Alamitos Unified School District
Along with the District administrative & governance teams, virtually every campus is an active Youth Center partner. Disseminating program information to the students, hosting Elementary After School Music and facilitating the Every 15 Minutes program is only part of the school district's commitment to the Youth Center.
City of Los Alamitos
Since the formation of the city in 1960 the Youth Center has worked closely with its leadership to assure appropriate delivery the programs important to its citizens. And when the current Community Center complex (Community Center, Youth Center and Gymnasium) was built, the Youth Center joined with the city and school district in providing initial development funds. Since that time an important, unique and symbiotic relationship has existed between each of this organizations.
Rossmoor Community Service District
Sensing the need for youth activities in Rossmoor, the leadership of the Rossmoor Community Services District began underwriting the Youth Center's Summer Day Camp in the early 1990's. Since that time the program has developed into one of the most popular programs in the area, serving nearly 300 children each year.
Joint Forces Training Base
Recreational gymnastics has been a part of the Youth Center for many, many years. However, due to the lack of appropriate space, it became necessary to close the program in 1999. In 2004 the Joint Forces Training Base partnered with the Youth Center in the remodeling of an underutilized and neglected building on the base. As a result of this collaboration a beautiful Gymnastics Center has been built and is now serving in excess of 100 children on a weekly basis.
Los Altos Family YMCA
Resident Camping is a unique learning and growing opportunity for young people. The Los Altos Family YMCA collaborates with the Youth Center by facilitating enrollment in two resident camp programs each year: Camp Oakes in the San Bernardino Mountains and Camp Fox on Catalina Island.
Cities of Seal Beach & Stanton
The Youth Center is for everyone! The partnerships with Seal Beach and Stanton allow the Youth Center to reach out to members of those communities and offer access to the Recreational Gymnastics program.
And, of course, those individuals & business funding Youth Center activities. Please visit "Our Spoonsors" for a complete listing of the very important supporters.
