A weekend before Halloween, The Youth Center, located at 10909 Oak Street, Los Alamitos will host its third annual haunted house for local kids, teens & adults. The house will be designed, constructed, and operated on October 19, 20 and 21 from 6 to 9 p.m. by an entirely volunteer group ranging in age from under 11 to over 21 but made up mostly of Youth Center participants. Saturday, October 20 will be a special scary night for everyone over 14. The sponsor of the Haunted House is Joe's Premium Painting, a full-service painting company offering a variety of interior and exterior coatings.  The haunted house project, like many of the Youth Center's other activities, fosters a sense of community in the participants and provides a neutral site for teens to interact. "Joe's Premium Painting crew is phenomenal! They created the maze and made it look so professional. It is wonderful to see the whole community get together to celebrate this fun event and raise funds for such a worthy cause as the Youth Center", said Katrina Cherney, the Youth Center office manager.

The entrance to the maze is $5.00 per person. First 50 people in attendance will receive goody bags on all of the three nights of the Haunted House. All proceeds go towards the Youth Center's social, educational and recreational programs, including music, summer camps, and after school learning center. "I love Halloween and am so excited to go to the Haunted House with my whole family," said Jonah who is planning to wear a ragged cloak and a fearsome mask and who attends the learning center every day. Costumed children and their parents are waiting anxiously for their turn to brave the haunted labyrinth. The house is a large maze wonderfully decorated by Joe's Premium Painting with all the gore and horror a proper haunted house should have, including a "Toy Store Gone Wrong" room, a Witches room, and all manner of monsters and phantoms around every turn.
