D.A.N.C.E. Program

An acronym for Drug Alternative Nights and Community Events, this program was initiated by students in response to alcohol related vehicular deaths of Los Alamitos High School students. Since 1990 it has provided fun, safe, sober alternatives to attending unsupervised parties where drugs and/or alcohol may be present.

The largest element of this program is traditional dances held in the Oak Gymnasium located behind the Youth Center. Through tough enforcement a Zero Tolerance policy, strict supervision, professional security personnel and mandatory participant searches, a secure site is maintained. There, teens can have fun in an alcohol and drug free environment. Despite the restrictive measures attendance has exceeded 600 students per event.

Other activities include guest speakers, community service projects and field trips.
